Not necessarily true. You can have a low IQ and still be wise; you can be intelligent, wise and uneducated.

Wisdom is being able to take a wider breadth of a situation or subject and carefully apply life's experiences to it.

This is also why elders are traditionally important; wisdom tends to come with age and a life of experience in various aspects.

This is also why we have the adage "wise beyond their years"
