What is this thread all about?
Just a place for general discussion. A place to unload whats on your mind and talk about anything - personal, health, help needed, achievements, daily highs and daily lows, theories, predictions and what have you.
Does not need to be Q related.
Former lifelong atheist here seeking guidance. I'm looking to be pointed in the right direction for spiritual learning and helping others, but don't know where to look in terms of churches and understanding denominations.
I absolutely want to avoid any churches that believe all these covid restrictions are "for the greater good" as that line of thinking has driven me toward the realization that there are evil forces trying to get you to commit heinous acts against individuals.
FYI I am in central NC in a very "woke" area and seeing everyone sacrificing children for the so called "safety" of the elderly is heartbreaking.
Agreed Entirely on COVID Vaccines / restrictions/ mask madness. I agree with BasedKungFuMaster on the Holy Spirit, however, as the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth, teaching should line up with Scripture taken in its context. The fruit of the Spirit, as listed in Galatians 5, is as essential as the gifts of the Spirit.
Whatever you do, look for the Holy Spirit. Whether the church is doctrinaire according to your hopes or not, it is most important that people at the church (1) want to pray for you (because that's a good thing for you to want and for them to offer others) (2) that the Holy Spirit is there (which you'll know in your heart because it might make you feel like laughing and crying at the same time, or like deep peace, or a recognition that is strictly your own that I can't describe--but if you are asking to meet the Holy Spirit, he's looking to reach out to you)
I would say to look for the gifts of the spirit like moving in the prophetic, or laying on of hands--but there are those who emulate the power without the power. So, the best thing is to take the stress off yourself, and just say:
"God--I don't know what I believe or who I am--but I'm opening this door to learn. If you want me, call me and bring me closer."
God is faithful to answer a simple prayer and a true one. I'm praying for you right now as I type. I truly believe that if you look for God and ask for God to come to you, He will honor that prayer.
We're all dust, brother. But there's incredible joy and a literal eternity of it in God. And we can't get there by being smart or savvy or strong. We get there by asking God to take us deeper a little bit more everyday.
I was brought up as Episcopalian, but didn't find a personal relationship with Jesus until later on...Unity Church, hq in Mo, is the truth that i have embraced since the '70's...(not Unitarian)...most services these days are carried live on fb, and my very favorite personally is Unity Church in Columbia, SC, with Rev Dan Beckett...good luck on your journey, my friend, as you will be led to the right place where you are comfortable in your relationship with God...Just immersing yourself in KJV of the Bible can be done, without actually joining a group, if that is of interest to you...all you really need to know, is in the Bible...blessings, friend...
