It is a highly competitive industry. If sellers are artificially lifting the price, then they must be colluding (Price Fixing), which is a crime and people go to jail.

So if they are Price Fixing, then he should start and investigation and start charging people with crimes.

They won't do that because there is no price fixing.

Here in Wisconsin, there is a law on the books (from the 30's) that requires gas station owners to charge 9.7 % more than they pay wholesale. This was to protect small mom and pop gas stations. State legislature had tried to revoke twice. Nope. We have no idea how many laws,rules, statutes affect the price we pay. And they keep it that way. My understanding is that only the brokers are profiting rn. And now, strategic reserves are being sent to Europe. Insanity
