Well, these stones weigh roughly 43,000 pounds each - that's 21 TONS.
IF this was an explosive, then it would have to be a very big one, and that would leave scorch marks on the ground, and on the neighboring rocks. But do we see any evidence of that?? Nope.....

Like I said, I'm no expert, so your theory is just as plausible as mine...
Maybe it was some sort of solid projectile that was fired directly into it, and through it, causing the majority of it to collapse, while strewing debris out the back side of it???
