Us computer whizzes managed to fix enough of the software to keep Y2K from being a big disaster. Because we fixed it, many people claim it was never a problem, but it actually was. I totally rewrote a piece of software that a business was required to have in order to operate at all. I saved that large company singlehandedly.

The software I worked on would have completely and utterly stopped working on 1-1-2000. It actually had all the complete dates coded into just two characters. It was complicated. I didn't have to go through the old software at all. It was so hopeless, I had to create a brand new software from scratch that would perform the same functions. The hardest part was converting the existing data and those weird dates into modern data tables.
