My grandfathers land is still listed as in his name. My grandmother passed away first and the eldest daughter passed. The eldest son is mentally incapacitated. The next in line also just recently passed. Does it keep going down the line in birth order or does a will dictate? Idk if he even had a will. Puerto Rico is the area. Ty in advance.

How do I do this? Hire a lawyer? Sorry for not researching beforehand I just trust you more than google. I am 1 grandson out of 50+.. my grandparents had 12+ children.
My plan is to pay off the land but I dont want to ask around about it.
This law is different in every state.
You need specifically a "Probate attorney".
