Well... I was kind of joking. Because if the Angels conspired to create a manifestation on the day the Pope was named.... well, the Pope is pretty evil.
I don't believe that all manifestations we see in the world are demonic. If they were all demonic, why on earth would we need discernment?
That said, yeah, no, I don't see angels choosing to manifest an image via a cloud, unless it was to inspire an actual person for a specific reason. Not in order to be shared on the Net.
Regarding God's work in the Old Testament era, I was reading scripture (NT) just yesterday (Galatians 3:9) where it clearly indicates that the manifestations of God in the Old Testament era was through angelic instruments. That jives with my understanding too. That God did not directly manifest in the OT era, but rather, manifested via his instruments. That's because humanity had not yet been able to directly connect to God.
After Christ came and opened up the realm of spiritual salvation, this allowed our spiritual faculties to also open up and communicate directly with our Father, just as Jesus did. I believe that in the OT, the saints and prophets, etc, were actually communicating with the highest angelic world, not God directly.
That'd be one of dem fallen angels, wouldn't it?
Dunno. God's warnings are clearest after the fact. It certainly caught a lot of attention.
If it's made out of chemtrails it would be.

The image is certainly beautiful, and evocative. I don't know whether people think this is ACTUALLY an angel manifesting. I don't.
