Maybe it’s changed since I had three consecutively. IDK 🤷🏼‍♀️ just saying this experience. I had to have Gmail to have an account on the phone. That was about 2008. Before that I never had Gmail. They all had the google play store to get apps.

The two distros that I'm familiar with are GrapheneOS and LineageOS. Neither come with google anything, but the catch is you have to have a phone with an unlocked bootloader, which can be a pain in the ass to find, then you have to download and flash the OS manually over a USB cable. Once its loaded you can use F-droid in place of Google Play to download apps.
