We had a junkyard fire near a town I lived in a few years ago - old cars most still had batteries in them, contained fluids and had tires on. Of course the interiors were full of cloth and plastics. The place smoked for a couple weeks and smelled for months. It was almost a year before everything was removed - probably to a landfill.
Yes. Probably the cleanest burning are the pallet yards. Even the paper fires are eye-watering, and everything else has petrochemicals and is much worse. I live on the edge of a big area with every kind of junkyard and can just guess who is on fire by the smoke.
Ugh - hope there are good things about living there to offset that negative.
Oh yes. I actually like living in a fringe area, because we are largely ignored by everyone. Our houses are old but pretty good and we have trees and big lots.
