I thought this would be a solid topic to share with anons as I'm sure others want to improve their own Digital Soldier skills.
I would like to know what the code anons use for posting pictures within a post. Is it simple HTML??
I would like to share that when I got started and compliling proofs together the files were very low res and would pixelate and look like crap. At the time I was using the snippet tool on my windows computer.
I have come to find that by pressing the following:
"Windows Key + Shift + S"
Allows for taking screenshots that are high quality and don't pixelate. You can edit the images with the image editor that pops up after you select what you screenshot. Pretty handy.
What do others have to share??
I use a Java program (JRE is baked in) called "JDownloader 2" (Win, Linux, MacOs, others supported) to grab YT vids, Twatter vids, Rumble vids, Tiktok vids - works with many different video sites and can grab vids, pics, archive/zips. Pretty versatile tool, but takes a bit of getting used to. Recommend venturing into the Settings section and look to see what tweaks might be useful, but not necessary.
Plebbit I use another tool https://redditsave.com/ for videos. There are other ways, depending on what subreddit bots they are using, but this one is quick and easy. Has ability to download on mobile, see FAQ.

For videos you could also check out YoutubeDL if you haven't. Not positive but I think it's actually yt-dlp now. It's command line and also takes a bit to get used to, but if you mess around with jdownloader you can probably figure it out.
yt-dlp "url to youtube video", downloads the video to the current folder
yt-dlp "url to youtube playlist", downloads the entire playlist to current folder with a single command
yt-dlp "url to youtube channel", downloads the ENTIRE CHANNEL (sometimes thousands of videos) to the current folder with a single command
Nowhere ever will you find a program more effective at eating away at every last gigabyte of hard drive space you have than this one!
Yeah, I'm aware of YoutubeDL, the one I'm using is youtube-dlc - I thought it had a fork or two possibly. Definitely more useful than Jdownloader when it comes to YT vids, since it allows playlist downloads and channel archiving, which is why I looked into it originally (along with the slew of other configurable options for mass downloading YT).
I tried getting it setup on my Windows box, but couldn't get it figured out for whatever reason, even after extensive searching on /r/DataHoarder. As u/Choctaw mentioned, chocolatety is probably the path of least resistance for Win....but I'd like to get converted over to Linux full time and it would probably be easier in a more "native" environment lol.
yes, youtube-dl is froaked bigtime. yt-dlp works pretty well and to me is much faster. You can install it a few ways, with pip or apt package managers. I am not sure if there is a windows specific version but if you have python3 on your windows machine it should work, or maybe you can get it with chocolatety as an additional package manager for windows. Homebrew and brew for linux can also install it.
Yep there's a windows version and it can be downloaded through Chocolatey! Works great. Only issue is now I literally have like no hard drive space after nearly filling the 30tb array I put together about a year ago...
This, it'll download multiple sources too, not just youtube. I know it downloads twitter videos for me. Just need the url of the post.
4k downloader has all the features, works for more than just YT, lets you select the dl resolution, and you can even opt for sound as mp3 only.
