I am a teacher and one if my biggest worries is that school will never go back to normal. Local news is starting their bs about how covid is getting bad again and we have high rates of transmission, blah, blah, blah...school starts in a little over 2 weeks. I do not want to be forced to wear a mask, I do not want my students wearing masks, I do not want to remote teach through Zoom/Google Meets, and I do not want students nor myself being sent home to quarantine! I'm not vaccinated and will never be, but its getting harder and harder to be an unvaccinated teacher because you get treated so differently. I got covid back in February 2022. I had to quarantine for 5 days, couldn't come back until fever free/symptom free, then I was forced to wear a mask for 2 weeks because I was not vaccinated. Teachers that are vaccinated do not have to wear a mask or quarantine! They are free to come back once symptoms are gone, mask free! When will this end!? This generation of children are going to be so screwed. They already spend too much time on electronics and now most of their education comes from apps. Many teachers have given up on teaching and just make students get on different apps all day, even while at school.
...I can feel the angst that permeates your typed words...
...your students are blessed with a teacher who actually sees them as human beings and not lumps of flesh that need to be shaped into "their" vision of the new normal...
...thank you for your report from behind enemy lines...
...May God bless you for your courage and wisdom...
...and grant you the strength to continue to "hold the line"....
I'm so sorry, but teaching as you know it is dead. I think you should prepare for it to never go back to normal. It's either going to get a lot worse or a lot better; there won't be any normal.

That's the saddest part from your little blurb. My coworkers also expressed concerns about this 2 years ago. They had to buy ipads for their kids' classes.
Sounds like the role of the teacher is slowly diminishing and state is going to be taking the wheel via tech and apps
Not my kid! He barely knows what a mask is, thank God, but I feel for the kids who had push over or fearful parents. I pray they are able to bounce back, humans and especially children are very resilient.
Parents ruled by fear and spiritual weakness teach these traits to their kids. They had already been teaching their kids that the device is more important than they are, that likes are the most important thing, so everyone must go along with the crowd, which is going wherever the screen tells them to go.
Funny thing is, we've only seen a couple of homeschool families afraid of germs and life. There's funky colored hair involved and no apparent church affiliations. But that's just a coincidence, I'm sure.
You mean locking down, muzzling children and preventing them from developing early social skills, making friends and interacting with them face to face actually caused damages to their cognitive development ? Who would've thought ?
Next you're gonna tell me that the jabs were all a ploy to cause mass infertility and the occasional heart problem.
I have 3 daughters. 2 missed the second half of 1st grade, and all of 2nd and the other missed half of kindergarten and all of first grade the following school year. 2 of them are currently in summer help program, and the other is seeing a councilor because she wasn't able to mentally handle the lockdowns and eventually hit a breaking point. This first full year back at school was very tough on the kids, and they're still adjusting to life as normal. What a disservice to the youth.

So, in short, abused kids show signs of abuse.

...valid observation, nicely stated and framed....
