A lack of empathy can also be man made by putting people through such horrific things that the empathy part of the brain is turned off, however in the man made version empathy it can also be turned on again the older someone gets or the longer the time since the abuse. This explains the constant abuse of celebrities in Hollywood.
A great example of this is Michael Jackson who released a series of albums showing his becoming more empathetic starting with Man in the Mirror in 88 and then Black or White in 91 and then They Don’t care About us 95 360 days prior to his death…
