  1. A Gun is always loaded
  2. Never point your gun at anything your not willing to destroy
  3. Never put your finger on the trigger until your sights are on the target
  4. Know your target and what's behind it.

#3 will save your junk, and femoral artery.

If you don't practice, you should not carry a gun at all. If you do practice, you could carry it in your mouth and it would be safe.

Doesn't take much to catch a trigger on some clothing....
