As some of you probably seen yesterday i was talkin about how i found God while in jail for my alcoholism... just wanted to share that i attended my first ever AA meeting tonight.
Glad to know i have a faith based support system both here and in my actual community
If I backslide again I deserve whatever tough love or even hate I receive. Im in some pretty serious legal troubles because of the bottle so I kind of need something strict like that in my life. But, AA was actually just one branch of the tree that came from me asking God to guide me to where I need to be
There's a saying I've heard before, "take what you need from AA and leave the rest behind"
There is that saying, and what it refers to is part two of the program (the fellowship) of AA. In other words, people in AA sometimes will talk a bit of shite. Everybody is in recovery - some are a bit further along than others.
It means you would do well to check with the literature part one of the program (Big Book and other publications like living sober) to see if what they are saying is helpful. Having a sponsor helps with this.
