Sudden cardiac death from myocarditis is difficult to treat. Even if they have a shockable rhythm (meaning there is some electrical activity — you don’t shock asystole “flatline”) they do not have an obstruction to clear or ischemia (low oxygen) to correct. The underlying cause is the heart muscle itself is too damaged to function.
