Didn't say remove, just disconnect. You disconnect the onstar unit from it's antenna at the plug, shouldn't that cut the range significantly?
Well yes, if it was constructed that way. The antenna is built into the frame of the structure, you can't disconnect it.
I would figure there's a wire or connection point between the onstat and the frame antenna. Break that connection... even if you have to open the onstar unit to break it's connection from the inside.
There's not, it's integrated with the rest of the internals, so if you broke that connection the ECU would no longer be grounded and you'd have a bigger problem.
I see. I was under the assumption that there was an antenna circuit on the board that could be severed reducing the effective range without messing with the usefulness of the ecu. Thank you for your incite on the matter, despite how long it is between messages.
