89 School Board Pays Out Major Settlement After Censoring Critics and Deleting Their Comments from Board Meetings. $300,000 for the plaintiffs’ attorney fees and $17.91 to each plaintiff. The $17.91 is symbolic because 1791 was the year the First Amendment was ratified. The only winners in class action lawsuits are the little hat wearing lawyers.
the plaintiffs should have asked for 1791 a piece. After all we are dealing with 21% inflation, roughly....
Unfortunately, it’s the taxpayers who will pay that settlement.
We need to change things so that when an elected or appointed official blatantly stomps on citizens’ rights, they MUST be held PERSONALLY responsible.
