Hi, I'm an electric scooter driver. It's pretty cool, but has big limits a gas model wouldn't have.
Mine was cheap and didn't need a driver's license (in a foreign country where getting one is not totally straightforward for someone who doesn't speak the language).
I illegally drove a gas powered scooter recently for a weekend and wow was it a lot better.
My electric is slow and has a limited range. If you remember to charge when you go home and keep your range in mind you won't have problems, but there are plenty of places I can't go because I wouldn't be able to get back home.
There's another electric brand here that has battery swap stations all over the place. You don't own your battery, you just swap them for new ones whenever you get low, and stations are abundant.
I think that brand is fine.
I like the way my electric scooter handles a lot more than the gas one. Instant acceleration. Low top speed, which really sucks, but for short trips around town, I like the electric quite a bit.
Anyway, with some better infrastructure like those battery swap stations or chargers in more spaces or something, they could work, but we're not there yet.
