While I agree with the idea, I think there's too much reverence for the intent of the founders. They weren't gods, and the Constitution isn't some religious text. We should be able to reach the same conclusions about freedom that they did, without always resorting to invoking them.
The thing is, their thinking was the product of a different philosophical age (Enlightenment vs postmodernism). If people tried to draft a Constitution now it would be a giant fucking steaming pile.

It os my belief that the Constitution is the second greatest God inspired document ever written.
Invoking them is invoking the source of our understanding. Who would ha e a problem with that?

This was truly an inspired document, written by men who knew what both freedom and tyranny felt like, and its true history.
Few could pen such meaningful words today.
