I got put on Sertraline this year.
I went through 2 suicidial attempts. I am former military so muscle memory is in my blood. I repeatedly put the barrel up my mouth and dry fired it to train that muscle memory. Never did I have intents of harming others, only myself as I believe in solipsism.
First attempt was after I fell in to a deep PTSD episode from the loss of a close one.
I was put on 100mg sertraline daily. The first month I was exactly as some describe, a zombie. It felt like a non stop trip of MDMA and LSD. I pulled myself off it as soon as I could and it was followed by suicide attempt #2. Complete hopelessness and irrational thoughts. It hit fkin hard, this is not a drug you can just hop off of like ibuprofen or naproxen.
The point I am poorly trying to get across is that I completely understand why these mass shooters were on SSRIs. Combine that with programming, doesn't even have to be the in-depth type of programming that was done in the past with LSD(see Manson or Jimmy Shaver). Could just be as simple as TV, movies or music(see social media algorithm and suggestions, or music theory). SSRIs seem to be like the modern LSD, the accelerant, for lack of better wording.
DS is essentially breaking these people down and rebuilding them, or like Heinz says, "Grown not made".
Once you understand that, the shutting down of the mental hospitals in CA makes so much more sense. I can guarantee you most people you meet in NY, CA and other cities with similar characteristics, are on some kind of SSRI.
Edit: For anyone wondering what alternative would help, try St. John's Wort. I started with 300mg daily, now down to 300mg once a week and it completely changed everything with no noticeable side effects as of yet.
