It is good to know that if I felt like slitting the throat of a State Gubernatorial Candidate on stage, I can just ask for the morning off of work and not the whole day.

No, you'd be instantly set up for execution probably. You can't threaten any candidates they want, even as a joke. But they can sure actually attempt assassinations of anyone they don't, and receive no penalty.
