Trump is a deal maker. Maybe he made a deal, but no, not as a Dem. This would be a great way to destroy the Dem party though. The rest of the Dems still supporting the party would say exactly what you said: "wtf" and would never vote for another Democratic candidate ever again.

As stated these other things are more likely:

Trump made Speaker of the House by MAGA-controlled house in Jan 2023
AZ, WI, GA decertify putting Biden below 270 and Trump voted in as POTUS (per 1 vote per state delegation I think Trump wins 27-23.)
Just endorses and runs in 2024
