You've seen life through distorted eyes You know you had to learn The execution of your mind You really had to turn The race is run the book is read The end begins to show The truth is out, the lies are old But you don't want to know
Nobody will ever let you know When you ask the reasons why They just tell you that you're on your own Fill your head all full of lies
The people who have crippled you You want to see them burn The gates of life have closed on you And now there's just no return You're wishing that the hands of doom Could take your mind away And you don't care if you don't see again The light of day
Nobody will ever let you know When you ask the reasons why They just tell you that you're on your own Fill your head all full of lies You bastards
Where can you run to What more can you do No more tomorrow Life is killing you Dreams turn to nightmares Heaven turns to hell Burned out confusion Nothing more to tell, yeah
Everything around you What's it coming to God knows as your dog knows Bog blast all of you Sabbath bloody Sabbath Nothing more to do Living just for dying Dying just for you, yeah
LOL. No. Lots of heavy metal has a theme of murder, violence, and satanism
Sabbath is the bedrock Heavy Metal was built on and their lyrics tend towards a certain gnostic christianity. War Pigs, Lord of this World and After Forever for example. I don't rate death metal and black metal and things like that.
You don’t rate a large portion of the genre because it ruins your narrative. You may as well just take your sample from the genre Christian Metal
Metal was invented by Jimmy Page and Jeff Beck while trading licks in the Yardbirds and while they were session musicians.
Black Sabbath were seen as morons where their first LP came out, nothing more than sludge rock, turn up the gain and turn down your brain. Everyone laughed at them.
Then the world caught up. Yardbirds were influential on Heavy Metal in a proto-Hard Rock kind of way. You sound bitter. "Those stupid laughable morons!" Too bad they turned out to be the most creative, influential band by far in in heavy music.
Were you there? I was.
Works both ways. There are bands like August Burns Red and For Today who have messages against the wicked.
I agree, which is why I took issue with how the guy framed it.
But that being said, bands with messages against the wicked are less known than the bands promoting wickedness.
Probably the second most influential band in Heavy Metal is Judas Priest. Screaming for Vengeance ring a bell?
Hey listen, don't you let them get your mind Fill your brain with orders and that's not right They're playing at a game that draws you closer 'Til you're living in a world that's ruled by fear Always takin' baby out that's OK What they're givin' maybe it's out of phase with me Told you one you're never gonna win the race Same old no tomorrow kicked in the face We are screaming, screaming for vengeance The world is a manacled place Screaming, screaming for vengeance The world is defiled in disgrace Tie a blindfold all around your head Spin you 'round in the torture before the dread And then you're pushed and shoved into every corner Then they lead you out into the final slaughter As the sweat is runnin' down your neck All your praying for's to stop your body breakin' up Oh, your heart is pumpin', gonna soon explode Got to fight the horror of this mental load We are screaming, screaming for vengeance The world is a manacled place Screaming, screaming for vengeance The world is defiled in disgrace So you wait it out and bide your time Rip off that straight jacket gotta break that line Everyone who wins in the great escape Leaves a thousand more who suffer in their wake I don't talk about it but that's alright Table's turned now there's a revenge in sight If it takes forever babe I tell ya I can wait Send them screaming back through their hell's own gate We are screaming, screaming for vengeance The world is a manacled place Screaming, screaming for vengeance The world is defiled in disgrace Screaming Screaming vengeance Screaming vengeance Screaming
If you’re saying Judas Priest is probably the second most influential metal band across the metal genre, sure whatever I won’t argue. If we’re talking about influential on culture? Not even close. People outside the metal community don’t know who these people are. They know Mötley Crüe, kiss, Metallica, Ozzy, zeppelin, etc.
I realize that some heavy metal bands incorporate spiritual themes in their music, often times contradicting other songs they wrote, so I’m not sure using lyrics strictly makes sense to prove your point. For example:
Now i have you with me, under my power Our love grows stronger now with every hour Look into my eyes, you will see who i am My name is lucifer, please take my hand Oh yeah! Follow me now and you will not regret Leaving the life you led before we met You are the first to have this love of mine Forever with me 'till the end of time Your love for me has just got to be real Before you know the way i'm going to feel I'm going to feel I'm going to feel Oh yeah! Now I have you with me, under my power Our love grows stronger now with every hour Look into my eyes, you will see who i am My name is lucifer, please take my hand
NIB - black sabbath. Yet you’ve posted lyrics that have a different message spiritually.
To me this is like listening to our political elite who praise God with their words (lyrics) but live an entirely different life outside of those lyrics. On say an island with their good friend Jeffrey.
Some rappers will include God in their lyrics, while promoting other things that influence culture. The cabal doesn’t care about that. They’re not upset that rappers or rockers incorporate God into their lyrics, so long as they’re influencing culture in other ways.
And let’s be clear about what the metal bands from the 70s influenced in the culture at the time. It wasn’t vengeance on the wicked via lyrics from one off songs that never reached larger audiences. It was sex, partying, drugs, and rebellion. It was a lifestyle and mindset they influenced
Let's not forget the first Attack Attack! album is VERY christian. Lyrics from stick stickly come to mind... "This is the best part of the message. And it only took one. We live for what He's worth, and that's more than you know. He died for what He loved, and what He loved was YOU!" LOTS of awesome Christian or Christian leaning metal bands out there. More than I even realized when I started listening to it. Also I'm going to see ABR and we came as romans next month and I'm super stoked 😁
No one even knows who those guys are. Sure, some metal bands have those messages LOL. But those guys are randoms
Attack Attack was pretty big in the early 2000s lol. At least when I was in school everyone knew who they were. That was more at the beginning of the scene metal wave. Lots of those good early bands got overshadowed by more popular bands afterwards
