It's probably because of what is in the stores. Not a lot of great choices. Basically white, puke yellow or poop green if you aren't shopping for a certain gender.

Nowadays girls get pink, purple and floral schemes. Or horrible graphics and sayings.. ugh. Boys get blue, brown, green and grey. Stripes, trucks, superheroes or dinosaurs.

Source: myself, shopping for children's clothes as recently as last week.

Way back when.. boys wore pink.
