Haven't read the novel yet, but I did enjoy the new remake part 1

Yeah the new movie wasn't bad. It's missing a lot of stuff, but it spurned me into reading the novel.

Do it! The first Dune novel is easily my favorite book of all time. The rest of the series is great as well.
