When we do teleconferencing is is normal for both sides to display both flags? Why is Xi displaying an American flag?

I don't know that teleconferencing is all that normal for stuff like this, but in joint ventures, discussions, etc. it would be normal to display both flags absolutely, especially when you are trying to frame some semblance of normality to a world that has inherently become abnormal
