I'll have to dig more on Haspel, but so far it looks like her role was as a placeholder. Sit here and watch. Make sure rogue agents don't get into mischief.

Both Barr and Pompeo had CIA training. It's safe to assume they are versed in coded language and comms. I'd parse their words carefully.
