This is not yet correct. At least not until after the new congress takes charge. After the Speaker the next in line is President pro tempore of the Senate, which until January is Pat Leahy (D). If Republicans win the senate, Grassley will be in that position as a member of the majority. (edited - had "minority - brain fart)
While I'm here - I've seen a lot of people post that the new congress starts around the 3rd week of January like inauguration day. No - the new congress starts Jan 3.
If the Dems lose a Senator before Jan 3 the Republicans will be in the majority. Kamala's vote would also be mostly gone because the VP can only vote to break a tie. Grassley should be the President pro tempore then. It has been tradition to make the most senior senator of the majority party the PPT since 1949. I'm sure the Dems would put up a fight but they would lose that one.
More importantly, Schumer would no longer be majority leader. Hopefully the Republicans vote someone other than the Turtle (or Conyers, Thune, or Scott) to take over this time. It's tricky because we need someone with experience, and with good fundraising skills. Unfortunately right now that lies mostly with the RINOs. I'd just like to see someone who won't give every bit of leverage away for the sake of fake bipartisanship.
A good one if the CCP shoots her down.
That would be bad. I'm sure the DS would love that so they could start a war.
Unless it was a weather accident

Do you think the escort fighters would put up a fight or just get hit without warning?
