Well, it is a theory, but isn't everything. These kids are being bombarded by the gay crap and the trans crap all day every day. If the parents were stupid enough to give them a phone, they can find this stuff everywhere, and it is quite seductive. If you are a middle schooler, and are changing in ways you don't understand and someone tells you you don't have to change and grow up, it is quite enticing. You can even be different from what you have always been, and play dress up and like that. Still, you will never have to get married and hold a job, etc. like your parents, who are not happy being adults. So, you glom onto fantasy world and you play pretend, and then you get shoved along into medical things you also don't understand, but which are claimed to stop puberty or change you into a fantasy version of yourself. Also seductive. You find your new "community" of whatever, and you finally feel like you are set on your life path. Fantasy. Delusion, but it feels "real" to you. You get your flag and hang it in your closet and look at it every day, and you know you are on the right path. You even have your own flag, for goodness sakes! You MUST be on the right path. But then, after some time, maybe years, and you have assumed a fake new name, it hits you: This is all a big lie. And you have destroyed your whole life with this fantasy, and perhaps have been allowed to destroy your body, too. What is left?? Despair, and perhaps suicide, because you are now nothing but a liar living a lie. Going back is too overwhelming to consider, and who would be able to help you claw back the life that was yours. Your parents "affirm" your right to live a fantasy, and you don't want to disappoint them. It's all very sad.
