It's so arbitrary how people, or more accurately governments, have just decided to draw lines on the Earth where real people live and just split things, keeping the people from having easy movement back and forth this pretty darn arbitrary border. And enforcing borders such as these lead to all sorts of violent conflicts around the world as you try to divide local groups of people who have been a collective entity.
