They used three guns instead of four. (The fourth is a backup in case of misfire.)

The salute they gave BIden was a three gun salute (with the third as a backup). This is given when a foreign dignitary is visiting, but it is ALSO GIVEN DURING A PRESIDENTIAL DEATH!
