Lynching has been illegal since we said we have a right to a fair trial. People used to get lynched quite a bit, sometimes for little things. Lynching is when a mob decides someone is guilty and goes and hangs them, no trial. Execution by hanging is not lynching.
They love changing the meaning of words.
