My wife and I toured the Biltmore estate several years ago. Wealthy elites during that time built these estates as a way of "keeping up with the Joneses," so to speak, and they would throw parties for their elite friends. I'm fairly certain there were historic photos showing this pool in use, full of water and visitors. That said, this was before the days of pool maintenance, i.e., filters, chemicals, etc., and said indoor pools became stagnant and not pleasant. It was probably filled only on certain occasions.
Yours is the first claim I've seen, and I would want to see the sauce on it. That staining is not blood...it's rust and oxides leaching out of the structure and rebar.
Yes, I'm aware of this painting. But no connection whatsoever to the Biltmore. Keep in mind that the Biltmore is a tourist destination, with many people not only visiting daily, but also caretakers, etc. To do what you claim would be nigh near impossible without detection.

"Torture Room" Tony Podesta has artwork of this pool full of kids. Here's one of them:

They aren’t open 24/365 are they?
No, but I'm sure there are security patrols, and, if I remember correctly, locked gates at the entrance to the estate.
