I would love to see the source this comes from.

I want to believe, but need the source. That said, it could be a money laundering thing to get specific meds/devices for care into specific hospitals (it some industry may have been given lost of those profits from orders in very rural areas that normally wouldn't get such equipment pre covid).

There could be other reasons, though my wife who works for a hospital said that makes the most sense to them for the numbers to be much highers in Nebraska than NJ.
