Death hurts a lot of people. There’s a time for mourning and a time for realization. In time, we’ll learn the make and model, truth and goodness always prevails. 72 hour rule
...I am just interested to find out if it was a self driving vehicle.....
Doesn't need to be self driving, FYI. Any remotely modern car will have electronic power steering that is controlled by the ECU. The same with brakes and throttle.
Here is an example from 8 years ago of a Jeep Grand Cherokee being hacked. Fairly certain Cherokees from back then didn't have even lane keeping abilities, much less self driving: https://www.csoonline.com/article/3103431/theyre-back-car-hackers-take-control-of-jeep-s-steering-and-braking.html
Another example of a 2010 Prius and 2010 Ford Escape: https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/fact-or-fiction-your-car-is-hackable1/
Biggest difference between then and now? Proliferation of WiFi and Cellular in our vehicles. Those hacks were done locally with a laptop. Now our cars are "online".
...great information....
Or satellite hook up, at least. We are thinking along the same lines.😉
...drone....
Self driving cars don't really exist currently, despite what they call them officially. When the person in the driver seat still has to be actively watching and monitoring the car every single second of the ride, the car isn't driving, the person behind the wheel is. I've rarely if ever seen a "self-driving" crash that wasn't neglect on the actual driver's part.
