I think most of us have a bullshit meter that grows in strength everyday. My meter said fake at 1st announcement . I think Trump truly admired Abe and at the first whisper of danger helped him disappear.

That's what I think. And hope. There is that photo at some summit years ago - you know the one where Angela Merkel is leaning over the table menacingly at Trump who is leaning back in his chair with his arms crossed? Well, Abe is standing right next to him also with his arms crossed and staring at Merkel. To me, Abe & Trump got each other and were in a strong alliance.
