Im not a teacher but I am pretty sure that "banana" and "rock" are nouns, not pronouns. that bit of info could have shut the snooty little brat down right away. I would have been facing the principles best friend had I talked to a teacher like that. And a 5th or 6th grader has not earned enough respect to even have a proper pronoun.

What do you call a proper pronoun?
That could have been the point the child was making, the words we currently accept as pronouns have been extended so why not extend them some more.
For info, my preferred pronoun is: The-great-one.
My preferred pronoun is “Your Highness”.
