Just reading Tartaria telegram and a piece on there I can't post link but about new Zealand maori people had a European record their stories in the 80s of Fires of Tamatea...told by elders still living at the time of the fires.
People who saw the flashes were burnt to ash...those who didn't look ran into the river as series of seven blasts..everything burst into flame. Red hot stones dropping from sky. Many years of coldness rain hunger and death ...
