I often think that the number of sociopaths in the general population is a lot greater than we're led to believe. Think about it - if you were a sociopath in the higher rungs of society, wouldn't you fund studies and so on popularizing the notion that the world is full of good people? That the bad apples are few and far between? No one can jeopardize your authority if everyone is confused about the nature of their own reality.
That said, 4% is higher than what's usually claimed. Where did you get this figure?
