This author, in spite of reading and speaking Russian, is still biased and drank the Kool-Aid

In 2014, when Russia annexed Crimea and launched its proxy war in the east,

Annexation is what Israel did to the Golan Heights. They seized the territory during war and kept it. There were no elections regarding the matter.

In Crimea, the people saw that the Ukrainian government had been taken over by Western controlled zombies. Then:

1. The people of Crimea decided to declare independence from Ukraine.

2. The people of Crimea decided to ask to join the Russian Federation.

3. The RF accepted Crimea.

This is not annexation. Step №1 is in fact similar to acts of Americans seeking to be free of British control. Anyone who uses the word annexation in regard to Russian actions is someone who believes that countries can never change their borders by the will of the people.
