Yeah, I thought about that after I posted this, BUT they make lower velocity rounds for 5.7. If they carried all but 1-2 mags with the lower velocity stuff that is pretty much the same as 22 magnum/9mm type ballistics they would be WAY better off than using a freaking AR with 5.56 rounds. Talk about over penetration. In a concrete building the 5.56 will just bounce around and kill everyone and anyone. If the shooter has armor you switch to a hot mag and end his ass. At that point the greater danger would be to allow the shooter to continue his/her killing spree.
A P-90 is a personal defense weapon. This is EXACTLY the job it was made for. Its a great close in weapon. Its made for halls inside buildings etc and anything outside under 100-150 yards.
In fact the only thing I can think of that might be a better weapon than a P90 is to use is a cornershot with the same caliber/magazine as the officers standard issue sidearm. Same setup. Its light enough he could just sling it over his/her back and carry it plus extra mags all damn day. Not as good against armor(unless you use a 5.7 pistol in it kek) but still the advantage of taking to fight to the shooter from around a corner would be devastating. He'd get ZERO peace from the officer to bother stopping and shooting a student/teacher. Would require extra training though.
The P90 is the simple solution. You full auto a 20 round burst onto a shooter even in armor he's not getting back up and you still have half a mag if he tries. Train the officers right and it solves every problem. Using an AR is like using a Barret 50 cal to kill a deer.
