The actual difference is one uniform is ceremonial, the other is functional. That means those two marines are aircrewmen not ceremonial guards.

Just a couple of guys that were made to stand there to help the optics.

The Marine Corps still flies the prisoner around, but they've no interest in giving Joe the honors
