It isn't out of the question that the equipment was rigged to broadcast recordings and audio to a secured, and possibly off-site location. That already exists in the public residential and commercial space, hard to believe the president wouldn't have it....
I imagine that SS has full authority to monitor live cctv regardless or especially if the FBI is there. The SS will tell the corrupt department to pound sand if theY don't like being monitored.
