The only qualifications to be President are (1) having not served more than 1.5 terms; (2) Be over 35; (3) Been a resident for 14 years; (4) Be a natural born citizen
No other qualifications are needed. No other qualifications can be added without amending the Constitution. Dude should run from prison if he has to, then pardon himself.
We need a “stop the shills” campaign against this larp. I just read it in more than one place that you would expect to know better.
It is entirely true. You cannot impose any qualifications to hold the office of President beyond what is contained in the Constitution. Period. End of story. Any such statute would be amending the Constitution without amending it. Can they ban other office holders not mentioned in the Constitution? Yes. But President, no.
Article II § 1 cl. 5
"No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States."
22nd Amendment § 1
"No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once."
I hear what you say, and I am no Constitutional expert, but I see The Constitution as a starting point rather than a complete set of rules. That is, while adherence to The Constitution is necessary it does not preclude more rules being applied.
For instance, The Constitution does not rule out dead people so are they eligible?
Can a dead person sign the forms to get on the ballot?
Read this. Then apply to President.

OK, so when JFK died, why did he cease to be POTUS?
Art. II § 1 cl. 5
"In Case of the Removal of the President from Office, or of his Death, Resignation, or Inability to discharge the Powers and Duties of the said Office, the Same shall devolve on the Vice President"
