I sure wish people would stop saying congresscritters have "immunity from arrest while in session".

But only because it isn't true.

They CAN BE ARRESTED for treason.

They CAN BE ARRESTED for felonies.

They CAN BE ARRESTED for breach of the peace.

At this point it is safe to say MOST of the Congress is guilty of one or more of these three.

It's probably also safe to say none of them—except Republicans, of course—will ever be arrested for any of their crimes.

But they CAN be.
