I carried the NIV for 30 years, a result of my grandmother and grandfather taking me to the Methodist Church when I was a small child. One day a friend recommended to me to KJV, my life was changed by it. After studying for a while, I found the scripture where God tells you to come out of Egypt which is a type of the world. And that the apostles of Jesus Christ had been sent from Jerusalem to Syria. The KJV is directly translated from the Syrian text, the NIV is directly translated from text that came from Alexandria Egypt.
In Revelation, the Philadelphia Church, which is believed to be the 1500 to 1900 AD time period, is praised by God for keeping his Word. The Laodecian Church, which is 1900 to now, is known for having a door shut to Christ, while He stands outside of knocking on it. The KJV was written in 1611, the NIV in the 1900s.
I am not disputing what you say. I am telling you my experience.
That wasn't really an argument, it was more my experience. I know that it's hard to change from something that you trusted in for so long, but in my experience, the change resulted in untold treasures being uncovered.
