A lot of parents are upset with the standard/lesson that would have 1st graders needing to recite the Preamble of the Constitution. Many teachers (Some I am even related to smh) making the bogus claims that 1st graders are far too young to be able to recite such a thing. https://constitutioncenter.org/interactive-constitution/preamble
These same children can recite WORD for WORD every top song on the radio or their favorite tv show though.
Society has become dumber and dumber and the amount of lowered expectations we have placed on kids is appalling. Children just as young were able to easy recite such important information and teachers (and children's parents) actually took the time to explain to students why knowing such info was beneficial to them.
Young children have already been learning the Preamble; they are capable of learning it IF they are provided the opportunity to learn it. The whole thing is only about 1 min long. https://www.youtube.com/results?sp=mAEB&search_query=yr+old+recites+Preamble
So parents can spend a little time each day learning it with their kids.
I don't give teachers that much credit, but wouldn't it be cool if that was the point!?! But 8 think Rooftop is right. My high school students have a hard time learning basic shit.
Yes, but kids are able to learn before they are all stoned and stupid. Just Sayin'
That's true. I memorized the atlas by third grade. Good point, i might have changed my mind.
Well I finally figured out what happened to me in H.S..🥴
Had to memorize it in 5th to recite in front of the class. Knew it well before then thanks to Schoolhouse Rock (see my other post in this thread). Had to keep myself from singing it. No one needs that kind of pain 😝
