Depends on relative health. My grandma is on 3 meds, is in her 80s. One is for blood pressure, and the other two are for respiratory issues, likely all caused by her cigarette habit
My aunt and uncle are both on 20 plus meds. They both smoke, they're overweight, they were alcoholics for years etc.
The real issue in my mind is that these lifestyles that cause these issues are always relentlessly pushed as being cool and socially beneficial. Go drink and eat like shit at the bar after work every day, vape or smoke because it looks cool, try the new celebrity combo at fucking McDonald's etc
It's cool to be unhealthy. It was being emaciated 20 years ago to fat acceptance today. Drug and alcohol culture has been huge for decades. Free love was a 60s thing that has morphed into the crazy LGBTQIA+ movement today
Those lifestyles are cool in your 20s, but they catch up later. Big Pharma knows that nobody wants to put in the work to better themselves, so they can give everyone the easy way out with medication. Big Pharma wants you sick. They never run ads to encourage weight loss, but they'll run hours of insulin ads on a daily basis
