Ceramic is only good if you're looking for a lightweight option. Other than that, they don't usually stop anything larger than a .40.

All my vest with out any ceramic stop up to 40 cal.

With an extra Kevlar chest patch it does even better.

Ceramic we tested stopped up to 226 round. Steel ar500 plate 7.62.
