Weren't the Shelleys of Frankenstein fame among this group iir ?
Yes you are correct, there also was a Russian author who wrote a story about a Russian town that got “sick/infected” by something (i didn’t read the book), but a lot of those 1920’s authors look up to him as the father of their counter culture. I will try and find who that is.
Look into these people: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Dada_artists,_group_photograph,_1920,_Paris.jpg
From the Dada movement: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dada
Particularly this lady, I remember her having a wild story: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Céline_Arnauld
You can essentially click through all these peoples names, read their bio’s, follow their spouses and influences and see that they were up to something. All very fascinating. Suicides, murders, affairs, etc. many are still viewed with high regard in the literary community. Buncha freaks if you ask me! Lol
I think this is the Russian author: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dmitry_Grigorovich

On another author, Hugo Ball, who wrote the Dada Manifesto: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hugo_Ball
All these artist from the 1920’s were bat shit crazy, trying to erase the past. I’ll post more interesting finding as they come back to memory as it was a while ago since I looked into this topic. Anything coming from the Dada movement is just bizarre, understanding it kinda helps show how hollywierd got so... weird.
Frankenstein was written in 1818.
Sorry, thinking of another Era of weirdo artists then lol
